The University has opened up the applications for Resident Advisors across the Intercollegiate Halls of Residence for the 2026/27 academic year.
The Role
As a Resident Advisor (RA), you will be in a position to build the community in your hall and positively influence the lives of your fellow students. The primary goal of the RA is to support the Warden in the development of an environment that is conducive to the academic and personal growth of all. Resident Advisors assist the Warden in promoting residents’ personal and social welfare, dealing with disciplinary issues, and encouraging a supportive and harmonious living environment. Each night and all day at weekends and bank holidays (365 days a year) one Resident Advisor is ‘on duty’, responding to and managing resident-related concerns and emergencies. Apart from being the first point of contact while on duty, Resident Advisors organise a calendar of community building events that will enhance residents’ living experience in the hall and will enable them to learn new skills and form friendships.
Accommodation Arrangements
Successful applicants will be offered a standard single room in the Hall that they are appointed with an 80% rebate of the 2026/27 charges, subject to the standard Licence Agreement applicable to all student residents. This is a compulsory live-in appointment.

Applications open on Friday 1st of May 2026, and will close at midnight, on Wednesday 20th May 2026. You can submit your application online via the following link: Submit your RA application now. Please be advised that you cannot save a draft version of your application and return to work on it at a later time, as we are using Microsoft Forms. Instead, we advise that you prepare your answers in a separate document and copy-paste the answers to the online form. Please note applicants are required to provide two hall options that they will be happy to be appointed to. Applications are made for the Intercollegiate Halls as a whole and a preference does not guarantee being shortlisted or appointed at that hall. Closing date for the receipt of completed applications is at midnight, on Wednesday 20th May 2026. Late or incomplete applications, for any reason, will not be considered. Interviews will be held with a preference in-person, but online via Microsoft Teams can be accommodated. Interviews will be scheduled between 9am to 9pm on Sunday 7th of June. Candidates will only be invited to one interview, which is expected to last approximately 25 to 30 minutes.
To be eligible for a Resident Advisor position, you must:
- be enrolled on a full-time course of study or programme of study or research within the federal University of London leading to the award of a bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree, or a PGCE;
- by the start date of the post, have completed at least one year study at bachelor’s degree level (foundation degree also accepted) or above at any recognised university;
- be entitled to work at least 20 hours per week in the United Kingdom (you should check your visa and confirm with the UK Border Agency what work restrictions apply to you);
- successfully undergo a UK Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (a list of required documents can be found online) or successfully undergo a Police Check from their local country;
- be ineligible to apply if you have received a disciplinary warning/expulsion notice for minor or major misconduct from the University of London;
- understand that the Resident Advisor position is a one year position. Should a Resident Advisor wish to continue their role for subsequent years, they will be required to make a fresh application annually.
