The University of London Careers Service (UoLCS) is recruiting a Careers Consultant to work with students and graduates from The Courtauld, one of the Small Specialist Colleges supported by the UoLCS. This is a permanent post for 3 days per week (0.6 FTE). The postholder will be based at Vernon Square, Penton Rise, London WC1X. Please note that this role is expected to start early to mid‑September 2026.
As a Careers Consultant, you will support students and graduates to develop the skills needed to make informed career decisions, secure employment, and manage their careers successfully. You will provide high‑quality, client‑centred careers and employability support through a combination of one‑to‑one guidance appointments, workshops, events, and other employability‑related activities. These will be delivered primarily in person and tailored to the bespoke needs of students studying on specialised programmes at The Courtauld.
A key aspect of the role will involve building strategic relationships with academic staff, alumni, student representatives, employers, and other stakeholders to design and deliver effective employability support. You will also contribute to the development of online resources and learning materials. The Courtauld careers team is small, consisting of two Careers Consultants working together to deliver a comprehensive careers offer to students. The other Careers Consultant works three days per week. However, the team is also an integral part of the wider University of London Careers Service, sharing best practice and support across the Small Specialist Colleges and the team supporting the University of London’s distance and flexible learners.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Building and maintaining strategic relationships with academic staff, alumni, student representatives, employers, and other stakeholders to design and deliver effective employability support.
The Courtauld currently expects staff to work on campus for 100% of their contracted hours, although occasional remote working may be agreed where appropriate. This arrangement may be reviewed periodically, and the postholder will be expected to work in line with The Courtauld’s operating model.
