Overview

The University of London is the UK’s largest provider of international distance and online learning and the convenor of a federation of 17 renowned higher education institutions. The federation brings together more than 250,000 learners and 50,000 staff in a collaborative community that is delivering high-quality research and education across all disciplines. The School of Advanced Study is a nationally and internationally recognised centre of excellence in the promotion and facilitation of research in the Humanities and Social Sciences. It comprises eight internationally renowned research institutes as well as centres of excellence in Digital Humanities, Refugee Law and Public Engagement. It has four nationally and internationally recognised specialist research libraries.

The Role

The role is a full-time position at the School supporting the work of the doctoral centre which supports the development of our postgraduate research student community and more widely the training required for postgraduate study. The team is small and this year registered almost 180 research students supervised by the School and colleagues in University of London in Paris. These numbers are likely to grow as the School plans to support new initiatives across the federation of the university and internally. We have also expanded our range of research degrees and the popularity of those is beginning to take off. You join us at an exciting time!

Responsibilities

  • Support the work of the doctoral centre and the development of the postgraduate research student community and the training required for postgraduate study.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the School and University of London in Paris on established and new initiatives across the federation.
  • Engage with expanding the range of research degrees and support related activities as the School grows.
