We are seeking to appoint a Research Nurse to join the NIHR funded Health Protection Research Unit in Emerging and Zoonotic Infections (HPRU EZI), contributing to the delivery of International Severe and Acute Respiratory Infection Comprehensive Clinical Characterisation Collaboration (ISARIC4C). You will support urgent public health and outbreak research focused on high-consequence and emerging infectious diseases.

Working closely with NHS Trusts, UKHSA and academic partners, you will identify and recruit eligible participants, obtain informed consent, collect longitudinal clinical data, and obtain and process biological samples in accordance with biosafety and regulatory requirements. You will maintain accurate source documentation and complete electronic case report forms using secure data capture systems (e.g. REDCap), ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), HRA/REC approvals and NHS R&D governance frameworks. The role requires independent working with established protocols and effective collaboration across multidisciplinary clinical and academic teams.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the NM
  • Current ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate
  • Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to clinical research
  • Demonstrable experience delivering and coordinating clinical research studies, including participant identification, recruitment and informed consent
  • Experience working within research governance and regulatory frameworks
  • Confidence in clinical assessment and venepuncture
  • Highly organised, able to manage multiple study activities concurrently with excellent attention to detail

The post will be based in the Ronald Ross building, University of Liverpool campus. An Honorary NHS Research Passport and DBS clearance will be required. The post is available on a fixed-term basis up to 31st March 2030 and is offered at 14 hours a week, 0.4 FTE (2 days per week). The preferred start date is 5th May 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
