We wish to recruit an enthusiastic clinical research fellow to work within the Department for Womens and Childrens Health. This thriving department within the Institute of Life Course and Medical Sciences plays host to international experts in maternal and neonatal health.
Key Roles
- You will be working alongside Professor Andrew Weeks and Dr Abi Merriel, both clinical academics and Honorary Consultant Obstetricians at Liverpool Womens Hospital with broad ranging interests in all aspects of obstetric care from development of new technologies through to randomised trials of complex interventions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct studies to investigate the role of oral bicarbonate in the prevention of adverse fetal and maternal outcomes.
- Perform a systematic review and conduct studies in pregnant women both antenatally and during labour to assess the effect of a novel oral bicarbonate product on lactate response to exercise and labour.
- Build up to an application for a full randomised trial.
- Register for a PhD with reduced staff fees (Β£2,400 pa) to be paid by the student and maintain an honorary contract with Liverpool Womens Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
- Take part in formal and informal teaching and assessment of students as directed by the Dean of the School.
- Attend Academic Unit meetings and participate in training courses offered by the School or University.
