This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build a career in media, public relations, or university communications. You’ll play a vital role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the University’s Press Office — from managing media enquiries and preparing press materials, to tracking coverage and supporting media events.
Responsibilities
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of the University’s Press Office, including managing media enquiries, preparing press materials, tracking coverage, and supporting media events.
- Draft press releases and maintain media contact lists; compile reports on press activity.
- Work closely with the PR and Reputation Manager and colleagues across the University to ensure timely, accurate media engagement aligned with institutional values.
- Contribute to a range of communications campaigns, support high-profile events, and engage with local and national media.
- Handle sensitive information discreetly and work confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail; ability to manage competing priorities.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and digital tools to manage records and coordinate activity.
- Experience in a communications, PR, or press office environment is desirable but not essential; enthusiasm, professionalism and willingness to learn are valued.
