At the Student Wellbeing Centre, we are committed to ensuring every student at the University of Lincoln feels safe, supported and able to thrive during their time at university. Our Mental Health Advisors play a vital role in supporting students experiencing mental health difficulties, distress or safeguarding concerns, and in helping them engage successfully with university life.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide one‑to‑one mental health support, assessment and risk management for students
- Respond to students in acute distress, including crisis and safeguarding situations
- Act and coordinate the University’s Concern for Welfare process
- Support students through Support to Study or return‑to‑study processes following periods of illness or absence
- Work closely with colleagues across Student Services, academic schools, residential services and external agencies such as the NHS
- Provide advice and early support to applicants or prospective students where mental health concerns are identified prior to entry
- Maintain accurate, professional records in line with University policy and professional standards
- Contribute to mental health awareness, service development and multi‑disciplinary working across the University
Your work will help ensure that students feel listened to, supported and empowered to continue their studies safely and confidently.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is compassionate, resilient, professional and confident working with complex mental health needs. You will be an experienced mental health practitioner or advisor who can assess and manage risk, work collaboratively with others, and always maintain a student‑centred approach. You will be able to work both independently and as part of a supportive, multi‑disciplinary team, and will be committed to inclusive practice and continuous professional development.
