Are you passionate about shaping the future of social work education and workforce development? Do you have expertise in adult social work practice and Best Interest Assessor (BIA) education? We have an exciting opportunity for a social work academic to join our growing team and make a meaningful contribution to our teaching, research, and continuing professional development (CPD) portfolio.

Our School of Health and Care Sciences is a vibrant interdisciplinary community of more than 1,800 students and over 120 academic staff, delivering programmes across Nursing, Social Work, Paramedic Science, Diagnostic Radiography, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Speech and Language Therapy. The social work provision includes undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and an expanding portfolio of commissioned CPD, developed in close collaboration with local authorities and regional partners.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and assess core social work modules, with a particular focus on adult practice.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of BIA and other specialist CPD programmes to meet regional workforce needs.
  • Support students in both academic and pastoral capacities.
  • Work with practice partners to strengthen placement learning and enhance the student experience.
  • Participate in curriculum development, quality assurance, and interprofessional education across the wider School.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience as a practising social worker and/or BIA, and welcome applicants who combine academic and practice-based expertise.
