Duties include:

  • Supporting the development of self-help skills, teaching and learning, resource preparation and social learning activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Support children with a range of complex needs.
  • Celebrate the achievements of the children.
  • Prepare resources as requested by classroom staff.
  • Be aware of your responsibilities in line with school policies, including safeguarding, health and safety and communication policies.
  • Monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in line with the academy's expectations.
  • Work as part of a whole-school team to ensure that the children throughout school are given every opportunity to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.
  • Develop positive relationships with colleagues and children.
  • Use ICT resources to support pupils' learning.
  • Have a caring, encouraging and positive attitude towards your tasks.
  • Support the children during educational visits off-site, applying strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.
  • Adapt communication strategies for the audience and context.
  • Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy.
  • Adapt resources to support all learners.
  • Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA's role.
  • Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
  • Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
  • Functional Skills in English and maths if required, GCSE in English (grade 4) and Maths (grade 4).
  • Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
