About the Role
We are seeking a Laboratory Teaching Experimental Officer to join the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Leicester. This pivotal role within Central Technical Services will lead the organisation, development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate laboratory-based teaching. You will work with academic staff, demonstrators and technical teams to ensure high-quality practical teaching aligned with Royal Society of Biology accreditation standards. Responsibilities include managing health and safety across teaching laboratories, preparing technical resources for modules, and supporting outreach activities. You will mentor and train teaching technicians and demonstrators to deliver an excellent student experience. The role involves contributing to curriculum development, supervising MSc classes, and supporting postgraduate training in tissue culture and other specialist techniques. About You
You will hold a PhD in a bioscientific discipline or possess equivalent experience, with a strong background in laboratory work across a broad range of biological sciences. Experience in delivering and supporting wet lab practicals at undergraduate and postgraduate levels is essential, along with the ability to manage staff and resources effectively. A thorough understanding of health and safety regulations, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are key attributes for success in this role.
