About The Role
The Leicester Lifestyle Health and Research Group (LLHRG) is expanding, and we are recruiting excellent early career researchers on a clear upward trajectory to join as a Teaching and Research Fellow.
The LLHRG is part of the Diabetes Research Centre (DRC), Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC), and NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre. Our diverse research portfolio focuses on 24-hour lifestyle behaviours, including physical activity, sedentary behaviour, sleep, and nutrition in the prevention and management of obesity and long-term conditions such as type 2 diabetes in multi-ethnic populations.
LLHRG is one of the UK\’s most prestigious Lifestyle as Medicine research groups, contributing significantly to the University of Leicester’s high research rankings, including being second overall in the Sport and Exercise Sciences unit of assessment (UoA24) within REF 2021, and first for output quality. This success has secured £14 million in new funding from Research England’s Expanding Excellence in England scheme, enabling expansion with 20 new staff members across various roles, and 12 new PhD students. The team will be supported by new office and research spaces within Leicester General Hospital.
Our research spans epidemiology, experimental medicine, clinical trials, and implementation, and we welcome applications across these areas.
About You
As a Teaching and Research Fellow, you will have a proven track record of excellent research and a growing independent reputation in your field. You will contribute to our diverse multidisciplinary team and play a key role in the development and success of LLHRG leading up to REF2029 and beyond. Experience in delivering high-quality postgraduate teaching and supervision, or extensive undergraduate teaching experience, is required.
We particularly welcome applications from experts in exercise physiology, 24-hour lifestyle behaviours, mHealth, implementation science, long-term conditions, physiotherapy, or clinical trials.
Applicants should demonstrate credible plans for producing world-leading research outputs and have the vision and expertise to contribute to module/course development related to lifestyle as medicine.
