Are you a researcher looking for your first challenge? Are you excited to explore the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence on democratic and collective decision-making processes? Do you want to advance your career by joining the Trustworthy Distributed Intelligence Lab at one of the UK\'s leading research-intensive universities with industrial collaborations?
You will have a PhD or be a PhD candidate who has already submitted your thesis prior to starting the position, with a research track record in artificial intelligence, data science, and computational social science. You should have a keen interest in digital democracy, particularly in computational social choice (voting methods), deliberation, and collective decision-making. You should know how to work with data, especially collecting and analyzing AI-assisted human choices and deliberation data. You will be eager to explore the opportunities and risks of large language models for AI assistance in human decision-making, and capable of applying machine learning and computational social choice algorithms.
This role is associated with the following projects:
- Embedding EDI in the Distribution of Research Funding: An AI-assisted Collective Intelligence Approach, AI for Collective Intelligence Hub
- Digitally-assisted Collective Governance of Smart City Commons (ARTIO), UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship
This position will be based at the University of Leeds campus, with scope for hybrid working arrangements. We are open to discussing flexible working options.
