The Inter-Disciplinary Ethics Applied Centre (IDEA), located within the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science (PRHS), is an internationally recognised teaching, research, consultancy and training centre specialising in applied and professional ethics. Working in partnership with Faculties and Schools across the University, IDEA provides discipline-specific ethics teaching, whilst also delivering its own taught postgraduate programmes and supervising its own PhD students. The Centre has a vibrant and ambitious research culture, exploiting synergies with philosophers within PRHS, as well as a successful consulting and training arm offering its services to professional bodies, businesses and other organisations.
We are now looking to appoint a new Centre Director to lead IDEA into its next phase: a period focussed on growing its existing research, consulting and external engagement activities. The person appointed will be both an internationally renowned researcher and a resourceful, imaginative academic leader, acting as both Director of IDEA and, in this capacity, one of the three Deputy Heads of School.
