This is an exciting time to join IT with our vision for the future to "empower colleagues and students to embrace University values, be successful in their endeavours and support the delivery of the University strategy through effective adoption and use of digital technologies". We recognise that people are at the core of our success and are looking for a dedicated Operations Manager to join an existing team of Operations Managers to lead, coach, and develop our team members, ensuring they are engaged, motivated, and aligned with University and departmental objectives.

The ideal candidate will be a passionate leader with a track record of driving team success through positive relationships, feedback, and goal-setting. You will have excellent line management skills and experience, enabling you to support, develop and motivate your team to be able to work effectively and productively as part of the large and diverse technical footprint of IT at the University. Effective workforce planning is key to achieving our vision through recruitment, training, all aspects of people management and supporting development. You will work closely with the Platform and Service Owners to agree technical capabilities and responsibilities of your team.

This is a people management role and is focused on the line management and support of a large team of technical staff. Task management of these staff is provided on a matrix basis by Platform and Service Owners, Product Owners and Scrum Masters. You will support the delivery of service and change by fostering a high-performance culture. This is a people management, not a technical role and previous IT experience is a bonus rather than a requirement.
