This role is available to current students at the University of Leeds only. This role will be based on the university campus with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you passionate about shaping the future of education through innovative digital technologies? Do you have a desire to help others to grow and achieve success? Are you curious and ready to ask ‘what if?’ or ‘how come?’ We are seeking passionate student innovators to support a range of activities across HELIX and the Library Makerspace. These new learning environments are designed to give students and staff at the University opportunities to create and experiment.

As an Innovation Partner, you will apply and develop your own expertise to assist and support others in driving forward learning at the University in areas like 3D printing and prototyping technologies, virtual reality, game design, video production, communications and engagement, and more. You’ll assist with the smooth day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of the spaces. You will help our community to access and use the spaces to their full potential, including operating helpdesk support. You will deliver onboarding and induction sessions with support from HELIX/Library Makerspace staff.

You’ll also be a voice for the student body by actively participating in meetings contributing ideas and feedback that help improve how these spaces support learning and experimentation. Your role will encompass advocating for student enterprise, leading innovation projects, and staying on the forefront of emerging technologies in the realm of digital education.

To excel in this role, you will need to possess a passion and vision for innovative learning. Effective collaboration and networking skills are essential as you build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and good organisational skills are a must. Practical experience in areas like multimedia production, public engagement, arts, design, or virtual reality would be advantageous.

This is a casual role with hours that can be planned flexibly around study and other commitments. We anticipate that hours will consist of two shifts of 3.5 hours per week for the academic year 2026‑27, working some weekend and evening hours to ensure that the space is appropriately staffed during opening hours. These roles provide an opportunity to gain academic credits as part of a SOUL module, subject to eligibility.

What We Offer In Return:

  • 26 days holiday plus approx. 16 bank holidays/days that the University is closed by custom (including Christmas) – that’s 42 days a year!
  • Generous pension scheme options plus life assurance.
  • Health and wellbeing: discounted staff membership options at The Edge, our state‑of‑the‑art campus gym, with a pool, sauna, climbing wall, cycle circuit, and sports halls.
  • Personal development: access to courses run by our Organisational Development.
