We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual with knowledge and experience in course delivery, assessment, curriculum design, and scholarship of teaching and learning, with a focus on Mechanisms of Disease. With the ability to collaborate effectively and to motivate and inspire learners, you will become a valued academic member of the Institute of Medical Education. You will support innovation in our taught programmes, introducing new forms of teaching and learning.

The Essential Medical Science ICU Yr2 allows students to acquire the knowledge and terminology of the disease processes, recognising the mechanisms of how a disease develops. Students also gain perspective on the importance of given diseases, including commonality, biological interest, how it is related to occupation, social implications, and the important principles. Obtaining an understanding of the major categories of genetic disease, the principles and techniques of chromosome and gene analysis, with an awareness of ethical issues around inherited disease. They will be able to describe the fundamental process of inheritance, how mutations affect individuals, families, and the population.

The module is divided into two strands: Mechanisms of Disease and Genetics in Medicine and is delivered in Term 1 of the academic year. An administrator supports the ICU with room booking, dissemination of paperwork, organising meetings, monitoring student attendance and identifying and flagging any issues.

You will also work with colleagues to support them in the introduction of pioneering curriculum design delivery, utilising interactive teaching methods, inclusive and authentic learning, and assessment. It is essential that applicants are employees of NHS organisations and that those organisations are affiliated with the University of Leeds.

All leadership roles within the MBChB will be allocated equitably to allow for fair management and staff wellbeing.

This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
