Do you have strong organisational skills with the ability to problem solve to deliver excellent customer services? Do you have experience of supporting people to use information or experience within a library or information-rich environment? If so, then this role may be ideal for you.

In this role, you will work in the Academic Library Services (hub) team delivering our award-winning Reading List Service, providing support to the Academic Librarian (spoke) team and the Open Research Team. You will assist with the delivery of excellent academic focused library liaison services and support with processes to develop and manage collections. You will assist with the delivery of training and events to support students, staff and visitors to engage with our excellent library collections. You will support the work of the Academic Librarian team to provide excellent services to our Academic Schools.

As an Academic Library Services Administrator, you can expect to be involved in:

  • Ordering library materials within set budgets and delivering reading list training and support for academic and administrative colleagues.
  • Providing information, advice and training to students and staff via a range of enquiry and communication channels, including for induction, outreach and events.
  • Assisting with planning, monitoring and reporting of activities and services in scope of the team, enabling the Academic Library Services Team and Open Research Team to communicate effectively with Academic Schools.
  • Liaising with researchers to capture research outputs, to deliver excellent research support services to Academic Schools.
  • Providing administrative support including preparing materials, recording actions at meetings and supporting the effective delivery of internal and external activities.

What will you bring to the role?

  • GCSE (A-C or 9-5) including English and Maths, NVQ Level 2 or alternative equivalent qualifications, and/or learning gained through work experience.
  • Experience of working in a similar role in a library or information environment.
  • IT skills-proficient use in MS Word, MS Excel and experience of library / information software.
  • Accuracy and ability to prioritise tasks.
