Are you experienced in designing, deploying and managing enterprise desktop environments? Can you support the development and ongoing management of the University\’s personal computing infrastructure? If yes, then this full-time ongoing post may be ideal.

The University of Kent is seeking an experienced IT Engineer (Endpoint) to support the development and management of the University\’s personal computing infrastructure, ensuring the delivery of secure, resilient, and high-quality desktop environments for end users across all campuses. Working as part of the infrastructure team, you will design, deploy, and support enterprise-level desktop services, including Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager, and cloud-based desktop environments. You will take a leading role in software packaging and deployment, ensuring a consistent, secure, and efficient desktop experience across the University.

As an IT Engineer (Endpoint) you can expect to be involved in:

  • Designing, developing, and supporting the centrally provided personal computing environment, including physical and virtual desktop infrastructure
  • Leading the packaging, deployment, and maintenance of software using Microsoft Configuration Manager and Intune
  • Configuring and maintaining endpoint protection settings including Microsoft Defender policies and ASR rules, ensuring devices remain compliant and secure
  • Providing third-line support, acting as a technical lead in diagnosing, and resolving complex computing environment issues

What will you bring to the role?

  • Degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in end-user computing environments
  • Experience in designing, deploying, and managing enterprise desktop environments
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Configuration Manager
  • Experience configuring and managing endpoint protection features such as Microsoft Defender and ASR rules
