Responsible for providing complex technical support for daily financial operations by performing a variety of tasks following policies and procedures. In addition to processing a variety of financial transactions and maintaining records, the position compiles data and generates routine and ad hoc financial reports.
Duties may include:
- Purchasing identified goods and services
- Submitting invoices and receipts for payment
- Accepting and recording payments
- Processing travel claims and reimbursements
- Tracking transactions through completion in the centralized financial system
- Filing and maintaining unit-level finance documents
- Originating personnel actions and processing corrections to pay in the centralized financial system
- Developing, compiling, and summarizing data for routine reports and ad hoc financial management reports
- Researching and correcting discrepancies or errors
- Providing assistance to departments on questions related to invoices, receipts, financial reports and other transactions
- Researching, analyzing, and making recommendations for management decision making
- Serving as departmental grant administrator, assisting principal investigator with pre- and post-award financial activities. May participate in budget development and compilation and submission of proposals and project reports
- Three years providing financial processing support within an electronic finance system
- Using spreadsheet software to compile, summarize, analyze and report on financial data
- Interpreting and applying financial stewardship policies, procedures, rules and regulations

Additional Preferred
- Three years of related work experience
- Three years of progressively responsible work experience and working knowledge of the Extension System, College of Agricultural & Life Sciences, University of Idaho, State of Idaho and Idaho agriculture
- Working knowledge of office and computer hardware and software, including spreadsheets, graphics, and word-processing applications
- Familiarity with Banner, Windows, Word and Excel
- Working knowledge of fiscal recordkeeping procedures
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, work additional hours as required by the position, and complete assigned duties accurately and within established deadlines
- Ability to organize and prioritize work and make decisions based on established Center goals and priorities
- Ability to independently initiate assigned tasks and complete duties with limited supervision
- Experience preparing business correspondence; compiling information; developing reports and recommendations for management; and planning, organizing and implementing special projects
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to respond professionally to questions, concerns and complaints
- Strong writing, editing and computer skills
- Ability to work independently and appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to interpret and apply applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations in daily work
