Hull York Medical School seeks to appoint an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Respiratory Medicine, based at the University of Hull. We are looking for a highly motivated individual wishing to excel in both clinical and academic training, with the ambition to join the next generation of leading clinical academics.
The Academic Clinical Lecturer will continue clinical training at 50% of full-time equivalent within NHS England North East and Yorkshire. The successful applicant will work with the Training Programme Director and Academic Lead to develop a research-to-clinical training configuration conducive to both progression and academic output. The post is for up to 4 years or until CCT/CCST is reached, whichever is sooner.
Successful completion of the academic training program will position you well to seek research fellowships, academic senior lectureships, and work in the global health research community.
One post is available. The salary will be at the clinical scale, depending on qualifications and experience. A satisfactory enhanced disclosure will be obtained from the Disclosure and Barring Service. The placement/programme has the necessary educational and Dean\’s approval, with the contract with the University of Hull.

Applicants need to hold a current National Training Number (NTN) or be able to clinically benchmark to take up the post. Benchmarking can be achieved through the relevant specialty training application during the national recruitment window with the required minimal score.
Applicants must already hold a higher research degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) and either hold MRCGP and have completed clinical training, or be a specialist/specialty registrar. Candidates must have submitted their PhD or MD thesis at the time of application.
The employment contract will be with the University of Hull. Applicants must be able to start before 31 August 2026.
