Main duties and responsibilities

You will undertake teaching, learning and assessment, including module leadership within our postgraduate medicine and public health range of modules, short courses, and programmes. You will design engaging teaching activities that support student learning, set and mark formative and summative assessments, and provide constructive feedback and evaluation. You will act as a supervisor for postgraduate programmes, provide academic and pastoral support as a personal tutor, identify areas for revision or improvement, develop new teaching materials, and contribute to the planning and development of programme aims, objectives, and learning outcomes. While the position is teaching-focused, scholarly and research activities are encouraged and supported.

Skills and experience required

Applicants should have substantial postgraduate experience, experience working in multidisciplinary settings such as community, hospital, or primary care, and experience teaching at postgraduate level. They should possess in-depth knowledge of their discipline, understand students’ educational needs and prior learning, have cultural awareness, and contribute to curriculum development. Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, IT skills, flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion are essential. Proven ability to disseminate complex ideas and work effectively both independently and in teams is required.

Qualifications required

An undergraduate degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline, along with a postgraduate qualification (Masters or PhD) or significant relevant experience. Membership of a relevant UK professional body (e.g., doctor, pharmacist, nurse, allied health professional) is required. An ATAS certificate may be necessary.
