Overview

  • FTE: 1 FTE (working 37 hours per week). Happy to consider part-time working hours.
  • Duration of Contract: Fixed Term – Two years.
  • Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year.
  • Location: College Lane Campus.

Main duties and responsibilities

You will provide high-quality academic input in relation to Independent and/or Supplementary Prescribing, to ensure students acquire the knowledge and skills required to become an independent and/or supplementary prescriber. The role includes responding to policy developments, leading on all aspects of the delivery at a module level including responding to PSRB requirements, leading on the curricula, theoretical and practical teaching as well as assessment and feedback to students. You will also be expected to engage in scholarly activity to remain academically and professionally credible. This may include writing for publication and presentation at relevant conferences.

Skills and experience required

You will have experience in supporting student learning in either a practice or classroom setting and of facilitating student learning in a university setting (e.g. student nurses, students on allied health professional programmes, Independent and/or Supplementary Prescribing students). You will also be expected to have experience of good/innovative pedagogic practice and extensive experience of high-quality evidence of coaching or mentoring and teaching other professionals. You will have a theoretical knowledge of Independent and/or Supplementary Prescribing, along with a thorough understanding of PRSB standards. In addition, expertise in clinical assessment, clinical reasoning, diagnostic skills and an active prescriber.

Qualifications required

You will hold a Level 7 qualification in a relevant subject area, or equivalent qualification. You should also have live registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health and Care Professions Council, General Pharmaceutical Council, or General Medical Council and be an independent prescriber with current experience. A teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this is essential.

Our commitment to the University’s Safeguarding Policy requires that the recruitment of staff in this area will require the minimum of a Basic DBS Check. In the course of our work and University-led activities, there may be external contractual obligations where a further Enhanced Check is required. DBS checks may require renewal in line with policy.

Successful applicants who have lived outside the UK, for 12 months or more (whether continuously or in total), in the last 10 years, will be required to produce a ‘Certificate of Good Character/Conduct’ from each of those countries.
