Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Management Accountant will play a key role supporting all aspects of Finance for the School of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences to provide accurate and timely management information to the Dean and School senior team. You will support Business Planning, decision making and financial control, and reporting to external stakeholders. Reporting to the Finance Manager and located within the school, operating as part of the school’s finance team, the role is critical as a key business partner to the school providing vital professional advice, support and influence on financial issues. You will play a significant role in the Annual Planning process, preparing budgets and subsequently forecasts on a quarterly basis. In addition, you will support in preparing and reviewing monthly and annual management accounts for the Dean and Budget Holders, querying and providing explanations for variances against budget/forecast and escalating issues with recommendations for action. You will also provide support on costing and pricing decisions ensuring financial viability of new courses, partnerships and projects.
Skills and Experience Needed
- Previous experience of working within a financial environment.
- Excellent IT skills, particularly Excel.
- Technical skills including project accounting, budgetary control and financial planning.
- Ability to analyse and interpret financial information.
- Good team player, self-starter with strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications Required
Educated to a strategic level of ACCA or CIMA or equivalent (final stage of exams). Please state your current level on the personal statement.
