Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield
We are seeking an experienced and motivated professional to lead our Academic Quality and Student Success (AQSS) Team within the School of Health, Medical and Life Sciences. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of key student‑facing and regulatory processes, including complaints, appeals, misconduct, withdrawals and governance requirements. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring our services are efficient, compliant and student‑centred, whilst looking for efficiencies in ways of working. You will lead a small team, oversee complex casework, and work collaboratively across the University to uphold high standards of quality, integrity and student success.
Main duties and responsibilities
- To lead and manage the day‑to‑day delivery of AQSS services, ensuring high performance and compliance across all processes.
- You’ll supervise and support team members, managing workloads, development and performance.
- The role will oversee key operational areas, including Student Complaints and Appeals, Academic and Non‑Academic Misconduct, Student Withdrawals, Fitness to Practise, complex casework (where applicable) and Clearing and student success processes.
- The role will support Ofsted and Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) requirements and will ensure high standards of data quality, GDPR compliance and record keeping.
Skills and experience required
- You will have substantial experience in academic administration, regulatory environments or complex casework.
- Experience leading or supervising staff is essential.
- You’ll have the proven ability to manage sensitive and complex investigations and have a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential along with a high level of IT proficiency, including databases and case management systems.
- You will have the ability to analyse data and present clear, meaningful reports.
Qualifications required
- You will have a degree or equivalent or proven relevant professional experience.
