Applications are invited for one academic position as a Graduate Teaching Fellow (GTF) in the Department of Computer Science, University of Hertfordshire within the Human Centred Computing academic subject group. The department has an international reputation for teaching and research, with nearly 90 academic staff, divided into five academic subject groups. In addition, we support 150 adjunct staff, and 70 research students and postdoctoral research staff. With a history going back to 1965, the department supports one of the largest cohorts of students in the UK, including thriving online provision.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Production of accessible and usable interfaces (Web, Mobile, Augmented Reality)
- Evaluation of interfaces for accessibility and usability
- Analysis of technologies in terms of their ethical, legal and professional dimensions
- Contribute to teaching, learning and assessment, including assisting with the marking of assessments
- Attend Module Boards of Examiners if applicable
- Attend and contribute to Programme Academic Experience Group meetings, Programme Team Meetings and other subject group meetings and working groups as required
- Support pastoral, academic support and engagement activities for home and international students within the department
Skills and experience required:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Relevant teaching experience at HE level is preferred
- Sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established teaching programmes
- Appreciation of the educational needs of students
- Excellent organisation, planning and IT skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Effective communication with both students and academic colleagues
- Ability to deal with conflicting demands and priorities
- Desirable: relevant experience of research, audit or service evaluation projects and dissemination of research findings
Qualifications required:
- Minimum of a good honour’s degree or equivalent level qualification in the discipline or a related discipline or equivalent experience
