This is a full-time research position working on a clinical trial of family therapy targeting County Lines Drug Network (CLDN) involvement and Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE).
The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day operations of a Randomised Controlled Trial assessing the efficacy of interventions to prevent young people from involvement in County Lines and criminal exploitation. This is the first full RCT of any intervention for CCE, conducted across three London boroughs with high social deprivation and CLDN activity, in partnership with Royal Holloway University of London. The project is funded by the Youth Endowment Fund (YEF).
This role offers an opportunity to contribute to understanding effective support strategies for vulnerable youth and their families, and to disrupt organized criminal activities exploiting young people. The post-holder will develop skills in clinical trial design and evaluation in complex settings involving criminal justice and social care agencies.
The position is based at the University of Greenwich, within the Centre for Vulnerable Children and Families, and supervised by Dr Sajid Humayun, an expert in youth antisocial behavior and evidence-based interventions. Collaboration with Professor Claire Monks and Professor Darrick Jolliffe will also be involved, providing extensive expertise in developmental psychology and criminology.
Applicants should hold (or be close to completing) a PhD in Psychology, Criminology, Healthcare, or a related field, or have substantial research experience with vulnerable youth and families, along with excellent quantitative research skills and the ability to work independently.
The anticipated start date is September 2024, with the position fixed until 29 January 2027.
