About the role
We are seeking an ambitious and relationship‑driven Fundraising Manager to join our growing Alumni and Fundraising team at the University of Greenwich. This is an exciting moment to join us: with a renewed institutional focus on philanthropy and a developing culture of giving, you will play a vital role in shaping the university’s next chapter of impact.
Working as part of a small, collaborative, and supportive team, you will manage a portfolio of major donor prospects, individuals, trusts, foundations, and businesses, cultivating meaningful relationships and securing philanthropic support that transforms lives and enriches the student experience. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in higher‑education fundraising, with scope to take on new responsibilities as the programme expands.
What you will do
- Manage and develop a dynamic portfolio of prospective major donors, working toward securing five‑and six‑figure gifts.
- Lead the full donor cycle from identification and cultivation through to successful solicitation and long‑term stewardship.
- Work closely with academic colleagues and senior leaders to align donor interests with institutional priorities.
- Develop compelling proposals, cases for support, and personalised engagement opportunities.
- Contribute to campaign planning and priority projects, helping to shape the university’s philanthropic ambitions.
- Build strong internal relationships to foster a culture of philanthropy across the institution.
- Ensure accurate recording and reporting of donor activity, championing best practice, compliance, and ethical fundraising.
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
- An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage senior stakeholders and high‑value donors.
- Motivated by achieving results and comfortable working to ambitious individual and team targets.
- Strategic, proactive, and able to spot new opportunities for donor engagement and programme growth.
- Organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high‑quality work to deadlines.
- Aligned with our University values: Inclusive, Collaborative, and Impactful.
The university is a brilliant place to work. We aim to become the top modern university in the UK by 2030 and our people are truly at the heart of what we want to achieve. We offer a great set of benefits including an excellent pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, flexible working options including hybrid working and a genuine commitment to development.
