This is a full-time research post working on a clinical trial of Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities: Safer Lives (SFSC:SL) parenting programme. The study is an efficacy Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT) funded by the Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) and follows a successful feasibility study. It is delivered by the Race Equality Foundation (REF) and involves recruiting from five clusters across fifteen local authorities, primarily through Youth Justice Services. Collaborators include the University of Manchester and City St George’s, University of London.

The post holder will:

  • Assist with the delivery and evaluation of the SFSC:SL programme.
  • Conduct assessment visits and collect data from vulnerable families in their homes.
  • Coordinate with delivery partners, the REF team, and academic collaborators.
  • Help produce research outputs for the RCT and related publications.

Key qualifications and experience:

  • Possession of an MSc in Psychology, Criminology, healthcare or a related discipline (or extensive relevant experience).
  • Excellent research skills, strong organisational ability and independent motivation.
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people and families is desirable.
  • Interest in pursuing doctoral training (e.g., DClinPsyc, PhD) or future practitioner training is a plus.

The role requires flexible working across late afternoons and some early evenings when families are available. The post is based at the University of Greenwich in the Centre for Vulnerable Children and Families, part of the Institute of Lifecourse Development. You will work under the supervision of Dr Sajid Humayun and collaborate with Dr Charlotte Lennox, Dr Lesley‑Anne Carter and Dr Anita Mehay.

The position is fixed-term with an initial 10-month duration, anticipated to start in June 2026, and may be extended until the end of September 2028 following a successful internal pilot study.
