We are looking for an experienced Assistant Head of Student Wellbeing Services (Mental Health) who will hold clinical responsibility for mental health related activities and provide leadership and direction to the Mental Health Team. This role sits within the multi award‑winning Student Wellbeing Service which offers support and guidance to students with mental, physical and learning needs.
The ideal applicant will be an expert practitioner, professionally trained in the field of Mental Health with current post‑qualification practice in this field.
Responsibilities- Have excellent leadership and team working skills, use high‑level judgement to make considered decisions, prioritise need and advise on ‘at risk’ clients on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Respond to serious or critical incidents in coordination with relevant internal and external services and have worked in a multidisciplinary team where you have been responsible for the delivery of a mental health service.
- Manage complex cases, conduct risk assessments, provide mental health and wellbeing advice and support to individuals and manage a team of mental health professionals where client safety and needs are central to service delivery.
- Work flexibly in response to mental health crises or other similar urgent situations, including flexible working hours/locations and be part of a senior on‑call out of hours rota.
- Work with a diverse range of people who have a range of mental health support needs; build effective working relationships with colleagues from clinical and non‑clinical backgrounds.
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in the field of healthcare.
- Registered with a relevant professional body such as NMC, HCPC or SWE.
- Eligible for Enhanced Data and Barring Service check (post holds exemption from Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974).
