As a Strategic Planning Assistant Analyst, you will be joining the University’s Strategic Planning Directorate with the goal to achieve better decision-making across the institution from the analysis, advice and insight we provide, to the trusted relationships we build with stakeholders and the data quality, governance and infrastructure that underpins it.

Following the expansion of the Directorate last year, now is a great time to join as we look to enhance our contributions to delivering the University Strategy and support exciting new areas of analysis. We are a diverse and inclusive team of dedicated professionals who are committed and passionate about what we do. Our main office is on the Greenwich campus with very occasional travel to our Avery Hill and Medway campuses required. We have actively embraced hybrid working with most of our staff splitting their time between the workplace and remote working.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support the operational delivery of performance reporting, business intelligence, management information and statistical analysis at institutional level and to a dedicated number of internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in answering Freedom of Information requests and providing a service to the University in terms of answering ad-hoc requests for data and analysis.
  • Perform in-depth analysis to identify key trends and patterns around a variety of strategic datasets, including student continuation, completion and awarding gaps.
  • Develop and maintain a variety of reports to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support the Directorate’s university-wide communities of practice (such as a data champions network) to improve organisational data and analysis capability.
  • Provide support to the implementation of data transformation projects and any such activities linked to the implementation of any data strategy.

What We’re Looking For

  • This role would be perfect for a recent graduate with a relevant degree in statistics, data science, computing, maths or a similar numerate scientific discipline or someone early on in their data analyst career.
  • Experience of working with any administrative software packages (e.g. Microsoft 365) and any further experience with data processing or visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, Python, R or similar applications/software).
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders, including senior management and academic staff.
  • Actively managing stakeholders ensuring the service provided meets their business needs.
  • Ability to prioritise, organise and manage a varied and demanding workload without constant supervision.
  • The post holder will have access to a range of sensitive and key University systems, it is therefore essential that they demonstrate a high level of professional integrity and discretion.

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate professional with a shared commitment to our values of inclusivity, collaboration and impact. If you think this describes you and you want to make a difference, please apply.
