Are you passionate about supporting young people to achieve their ambitions? Join the GROWS team, a partnership of Gloucestershire's higher education providers led by the University of Gloucestershire, delivering the Office for Students (OfS) UniConnect Programme across the county.
We are recruiting for two roles (FTC until 31 August 2027): a Grade 6, Widening Participation Officer and a Grade 5, Outreach Support Officer role.
About the Roles:
Both roles play a key part in inspiring and informing secondary school students about their future education options, including university and apprenticeships. By delivering a range of presentations and workshops, you’ll enthusiastically inform and engage young people to think about and plan their futures.
As a Widening Participation Officer (WPO), you'll project manage, plan and deliver a wide range of activities, events and presentations both in local schools and on campus. These include everything from subject-specific enrichment sessions and hands-on campus experiences to tailored information, advice and guidance (IAG) on educational pathways and careers.
If you're someone who thrives on working directly with young people, enjoys planning and delivering events, and believes in the power of education to transform lives, this is your chance to be part of a team that works to break down barriers and improve access to education.
You’ll work flexibly, with time spent in schools, on campus, and working from home. Access to a vehicle is important due to the nature of the role and equipment that needs to be taken to schools and colleges to deliver the sessions.
If you would like an informal conversation about either role, please contact Catherine Wilks at cwilks@glos.ac.uk.
Additional Information:
We also have opportunities for more flexible working with part-time hourly paid roles. If you are interested in hearing about these, contact us on the email above.
The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
You must be eligible and have the right to work in the UK as we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
Key Dates:
- Remote online presentations: 27 August
- Interviews: 2 September
To avoid disappointment, please apply early as we reserve the right to close this vacancy should a suitable candidate be identified.
