Job Purpose
To assist with the management of MVLS Stores Operatives, directly reporting to the MVLS Stores Manager. The post holder is responsible for supervising the indoor processing team, working closely with the outdoor delivery team leader (Logistics) and shared Stores Operatives team to ensure an effective and efficient service.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the team within MVLS Stores to meet customer expectations by ensuring tasks are completed promptly and resources are utilized efficiently.
- Support the Stores Supervisor in delivering an effective service, applying store processes, and prioritizing workload in line with Service Level Agreements.
- Deputise in the absence of the Stores management team; coordinate team work and ensure service continuity.
- Manage building security matters during deputising.
- Manage the team ensuring daily tasks are completed according to store processes and university policies.
- Support the implementation of medium to long-term plans to establish a robust internal Quality Management System.
- Ensure team compliance with university policies, procedures, and relevant legislation and regulations.
- Oversee receipt, processing, and distribution of goods to the bench top in a timely manner, maintaining ongoing communication with the Logistics Team Leader to meet research and teaching needs.
- Motivate and inspire the team by example, providing coaching and development, resolving issues to maintain team cohesion, and escalating issues to management as needed.
- Order stock items, maintain minimum and maximum levels, and update quantities and locations on the Agresso system.
- Communicate stock outages to the Stores Supervisor for procurement alternatives.
- Support the Stores Supervisor by reporting team activities against Service Level Agreements and guiding the team based on management directives.
- Implement process and procedure changes within the store area and ensure team updates.
- Assist with other duties to support MVLS teams across sites and locations as requested.

Knowledge/Qualifications
- Essential: Standard Grades or equivalent vocational qualification (VQ 2/3) or relevant experience demonstrating competencies through personal development.
- Desirable: Knowledge of Agresso system or equivalent.
Skills
- IT competence, excellent communication skills, and ability to prioritize in a high-pressure environment.
- Problem recognition and resolution skills, flexibility, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to operate lifting equipment and work independently or as part of a team.
- Desirable: Understanding of relevant policies and procedures.
Experience
- Demonstrated competencies and skills in a similar role.
- Manual handling experience.
- Desirable: Full clean UK driver license.
Terms and Conditions
