Overview
In this senior role you lead the Counselling, Wellbeing and Disability Services to support student success, inclusion, and wellbeing. You will shape strategy with the S&A Services leadership, drive service improvements, and partner with Schools, Colleges and external bodies. You’ll oversee compliance and quality assurance in a large organisation, ensuring evidence-informed support for students. This is an opportunity to influence the student experience at scale and advance wellbeing and accessibility across the university.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to Directorate strategy and KPI delivery within S&A Services, aligning with university objectives
- Lead professional, administrative, operational and technical support structures to ensure priority delivery and meet targets
- Horizon-scan trends, legislation and sector expectations to future-proof performance and report potential operating-model changes
- Oversee financial planning and manage financial strategy for the areas of responsibility
- Guide performance reviews and benchmarking to improve student experience, success and outcomes
- Develop external partnerships and networks (NHS, professional bodies, third-sector) to enhance reputation and collaboration
- Lead change programmes and drive efficiency improvements in service delivery to students
- Ensure governance, regulatory compliance and best practices across disability, equality and student support
- Contribute to university-wide process improvements and alignment with strategic expectations
- Develop a framework for accreditation, regulatory compliance and quality assurance with external bodies
Key requirements
- Experience leading complex student support services, including mental health, wellbeing, disability and inclusion
- Proven track record in strategy development, change management and delivering measurable improvements
- Strong leadership of multidisciplinary teams and ability to influence at senior levels
- Experience in financial planning, governance and quality assurance in a large organisation
- Significant understanding of student mental health and disability legislation and inclusive delivery
- Ability to build partnerships with internal stakeholders and external bodies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
