Job Description

The Department of Surgery and the Heart and Vascular Center at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville (UF COM-J) is seeking to hire a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the non-tenure accruing level of Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor to join UF Health St. Johns in St. Augustine, Florida. This position will academically report to the Chair of the Department of Surgery and operationally to the Medical Director of the Heart and Vascular Center at UF COM-J. The department and center are active clinically, academically and educationally, with a focus on cardiovascular disease management and growth in heart and vascular care across: Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia region. The successful candidate will be a full‑time 1.0 FTE clinical faculty member, with teaching duties and clinical research commensurate with an academic appointment. The program covers the full spectrum of adult cardiac surgery including TAVR, Robotic thoracic surgery, TEVAR, and minimally invasive valve procedures. There are ample opportunities for collaboration with UF College of Medicine (Jacksonville and Gainesville) surgeons. The candidate will participate in the on-call schedule and must be eligible for licensure in the state of Florida.

Qualifications

  • Required: MD/DO; Board Certified or Board Eligible in cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Preferred: Coronary Revascularization / TAVR / Robotic Surgery / Minimally Invasive / ECMO.
