The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) or Fellow (PDRF) in Health Technology Assessment (Systematic Reviewing) to support the work of the Peninsula Technology Appraisal Group (PenTAG).
This NIHR funded post is available immediately to end of March 2027 and may be extended subject to renewal of funding. This is a full-time post (36.5 hours per week).
We are open to recruiting either a PDRA (Grade E) or PDRF (Grade F). Please see the job descriptions for the differences between the roles and specify the role you wish to apply for in your cover letter.
We have a very pleasant office environment at the Exeter St Luke’s campus, and we encourage office-based working to support team-working and learning. However, we offer both office-based and hybrid working arrangements, with greater flexibility arrangements for exceptional candidates. Fully remote working is not available for this post.
Our work involves the evaluation of health technologies (including medicines, medical devices, and diagnostics) for the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and other agencies. The postholder will primarily lead (PDRF) or support (PDRA) the evaluation of clinical effectiveness evidence within HTA appraisals, which involves conducting and critiquing systematic and rapid evidence reviews for the purposes of influencing healthcare decision-making and policy. For the PDRF role, the postholder will have more research leadership responsibilities, and will be expected to contribute to the supervision, training and development of staff to support career progression through publications and grant capture.
You will be an experienced systematic reviewer who is passionate about using your skills to directly influence healthcare for patients in the NHS and healthcare settings around the world. You will have direct experience of designing systematic and rapid evidence reviews to address research questions relevant to HTA and will have experience appraising and interpreting a range of evidence types relevant to evaluating health technologies (including trial statistics, meta-analysis, diagnostic accuracy data, critical appraisal, patient-reported outcomes, and qualitative data). You should be an excellent communicator, able to explain verbally and in writing technical detail in a way that is accessible to a range of audiences.
