Position: MSCA Doctoral Graduate Research Assistant (PhD studentship) – blockchain‑secured data sharing in the Internet‑of‑Energy (IoE). This role is part of the SAILING Doctoral Network, a Horizon MSCA 2024 call (Grant Agreement ID 101227573). The position is a fixed‑term, full‑time appointment (36 months), based at the Streatham campus, with start date between 1 August 2026 and 1 December 2026 (must commence by 1 December 2026). Salary: £33,951 per year on Grade E, plus allowances described below.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a holistic design of the blockchain architecture for IoE.
- Build a scalable blockchain system for IoE data sharing.
- Design an efficient and fair consensus mechanism for IoE.
- Present research progress and outcomes to supervisors and external stakeholders.
- Communicate complex information orally, in writing, and electronically.
- Contribute to research proposals and applications to external funding bodies.
- Implement research prototypes, run reproducible experiments, and benchmark results.
- Work with datasets: data preparation, experimental design, and result reporting.
- Collaborate effectively with supervisors, partners, and network‑wide training, secondments, and dissemination activities.
- Participate in two separate 3‑month secondments with EU and associated country partners of the SAILING Doctoral Network.
Qualifications:
- First‑degree level (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Communication Engineering, Electrical/Power Engineering, Energy Systems, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of research methods and techniques for establishing research programmes.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with ability to learn new methods quickly.
- Interest in Computer Science/Internet‑of‑Energy/Cybersecurity/Artificial Intelligence and their data, modelling, and operational challenges.
- Ability to develop and evaluate algorithmic solutions (e.g., machine learning, optimisation, statistical modelling, distributed systems).
- Experience in implementing research prototypes and running reproducible experiments with programming and tooling.
- Proficiency in working with datasets, including preparation, experimental design, benchmarking, and result reporting.
- Effective collaboration skills with supervisors and partners, and contribution to training, secondments, and dissemination.
