Overview
Postdoctoral Research Fellow (UKRI funded, full‑time, fixed‑term 1st August 2026 – 30th September 2027). The starting salary will be from £43,482 on Grade F, depending on knowledge, skills and experience. The role will be based in the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland, Glasgow and / or home‑based with occasional visits to Exeter.
Responsibilities
- Deliver the UKRI‑funded ReMake Value Retention Centre (RVRC) led by Strathclyde University and NMIS, in collaboration with the University of Exeter.
- Conduct research and practice around the development and implementation of Circular Business Models across start‑ups and small businesses in high‑integrity engineering sectors (renewable energy, aerospace, automotive, marine).
- Map start‑up and small business activity across Glasgow’s sectors; analyse circular business models to identify opportunities for economic, environmental and social value creation.
- Lead stakeholder workshops and webinars to enhance understanding, skills and knowledge of circular business models.
- Create tools and methods to aid businesses in adopting circular business models.
- Develop case studies analysing the implementation of circular business models and the benefits of digital technologies.
- Collaborate with researchers and partners across the RVRC to achieve the centre’s aims and vision.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field. A nationally recognised authority in the Circular Economy with specialist knowledge is required. The candidate should be able to develop research objectives, secure funding, present at conferences, work collaboratively, supervise others and act as a team leader as needed.
