This Royal Society funded full-time post is available from 1 September 2026 on a fixed term basis until 28 February 2027. The starting salary will be from £34,610 on Grade E, depending on knowledge, skills and experience. The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Dr Hans-Wilhelm Nuetzmann. The successful applicant will investigate how plant chromatin is re-organised during the plant immune response. This will include set up, application and analyses of cutting-edge genome biology techniques in plants, such as Cut&Tag, VICAR and SunTag technology.
- Conduct molecular genetics experiments
- Analyse data
- Keep appropriate records
- Provide support to PI and other research staff with project management (for example, organising meetings and corresponding with partners)
- Contribute to the production of research reports, publications and grant proposals
- Participate regularly in group meetings and prepare and deliver presentations to research team
- Assist with supervising undergraduate student projects
- Continually update knowledge and understanding in field or specialism to inform research activity
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies. Applicants will possess a relevant PhD, be near completion of a PhD or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will have experience in carrying out advanced chromatin and genome technologies including Cut&Tag, VICAR, CRISPR/Cas9 and SunTag in plants. Expert knowledge in plant immune assays and analyses of plant chromatin datasets is essential for the role.
