Lecturer in Infant and Early Years Practitioner – VIG (Education and Scholarship) is a part-time post (0.1 FTE) available from 30 June 2026 on a fixed‑term basis until 31 December 2026. In line with the University’s fair employment principles, any further funding opportunities identified will be reviewed and discussed during the contract.

Salary and Benefits

Salary will be from £43,482 per annum pro‑rate on Grade F, depending on skills and experience. The post may attract a market supplement in line with Agenda for Change 8a, depending on skills and experience.

The Role

Faculty of Health and Life Sciences welcomes candidates to join as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer with a particular interest in Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) and the training and supervision of Infant and Early Years Practitioners.

  • Act as an independent practitioner, supervising the formulation and implementation of appropriate treatment plans for trainees undertaking training.
  • Work alongside clinical supervisors, academics, trainers, and clinicians to provide a high‑quality supervisory service.
  • Undertake marking and assess clinical competency and academic assignments of trainees with a range of approaches as required.
  • Keep records of supervision sessions and reflectively discuss clinical cases with the supervisory team.
  • Implement policies and propose changes to practices, procedures for your own area of work and propose policy or service changes which impact beyond their own area for the wider training and clinic settings.
  • Offer regular group intervision.
  • Offer 1‑1 supervision of VIG practice, liaising with workplace supervisors and teams, where necessary.
  • Provide individual tutorials to students where needed.

About You

For a Lecturer Post You Will:

  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a Professional practice qualification or equivalent qualification in clinical supervision to develop teaching programmes, and teach and support learning.
  • Use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students.
  • Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities.
  • Will have evidence of excellent teaching/supervision identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching.
