The University of Exeter and Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are looking for experienced Clinical Academics in Clinical Genetics or Specialty Registrars who have completed training to join our Genomic Medicine team.

Job details:

  • Package: generous holiday allowances, flexible working, pension scheme and relocation package (if applicable)
  • Professor post: 50:50 split between University of Exeter and Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
  • Senior Lecturer post: 40:60 split between University of Exeter and Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

The Department of Clinical & Biomedical Sciences (CBS) at the University of Exeter, in partnership with the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, is expanding a Genomic Medicine research and clinical service. You will work within the NIHR-funded Exeter Biomedical Research Centre, contributing to the Genetics and Genomics theme, the UK Human Functional Genomics Initiative, and the Exeter NIHR Clinical Research Facility.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and leading translational genomic research projects in a range of sub‑specialties (rare/common disease, epigenomics, data science, functional genomics, paediatric, prenatal, neurogenetics, cardiac or cancer genetics)
  • Securing grant funding and publishing high‑quality research
  • Delivering patient‑focused clinical services across Exeter, Bristol and the wider South West region
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including genetic counsellors, genomic practitioners and administrative staff
  • Using integrated digital systems (Epic and PhenoTips) for seamless, data‑informed care
