Job Description:

Do you have experience of working in a fast paced, customer service focused environment?Do you pride yourself on working with accuracy and attention to detail?Do you want to help to provide the best possible registration and welcome experience to our new students?

We are looking for Registration Assistants to support with registering new students and helping them to start their journey with us as a student at Essex.

As a Registration Assistant working within the Student Experience Team, you will play a vital role in the University’s delivery of registration for the Autumn Term 2025 (September and October).

On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for supporting our students through the online and in-person steps within our registration process; including checking their submissions of ID and Immigration documents via our Right to Study Check portal; inputting key information onto their Student Record; assisting with email enquiries ahead of their arrival; and finally, welcoming them into our in-person event spaces to complete final registration checks, before issuing their Student Registration Card.

We’re looking for individuals with significant and recent experience of customer service, who can exercise their skillset to provide an exceptional, welcoming registration experience to our new students. You will deliver timely and knowledgeable guidance and support, as well as provide a friendly, welcoming and inclusive service to students that makes them feel part of our campus communities at Colchester, Loughton and Southend.

You will play an integral role in both our online and in-person Registration Hubs, working methodically and efficiently to check the information provided by our students as part of our registration processes. As a result, the ability to work consistently with care and attention to detail is essential.

You should be capable of operating IT systems, such as Microsoft Office, as well as have the ability to learn to work within bespoke Student Record databases to process information provided by our students sensitively, securely and with the highest levels of accuracy.

You should be comfortable and confident working as part of a team to effectively undertake a variety of tasks and to assist in the delivery of our registration events, including working closely with individuals from a wide range of teams, backgrounds and seniority at the University.

You will have the ability to adapt to the different periods of delivery that occur within our registration period and be flexible and committed to supporting a consistent experience to our students at Colchester, Loughton and Southend, through events that occur at these campuses.

If you feel like you meet these criteria and want to join our friendly and committed team, please get in touch.

All applications should include an up-to-date copy of your CV, accompanied by a Cover Letter outlining your suitability for the post, by evidencing the skills and experience that you hold that will be relevant to the position. Applications received that do not include both a CV and Cover Letter, will not be taken forward.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, with interviews scheduled to take place on Tuesday 22 July and Wednesday 30 July 2025, at our Colchester Campus.

Please direct any informal enquiries to and we’ll be more than happy to help.
