The School of Health and Social Care has an excellent reputation for teaching and research and is at the forefront of preparing people to solve real-life issues in health and society. We work in partnership with people who use health and social care services, practitioners and employers to ensure that our programmes prepare professionals for contemporary practice.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our well-established Speech and Language Therapy team and contribute to the delivery and development of our programmes.

This is a permanent, part-time appointment for 28.8 hours per week (0.8 FTE). Two contract types will be considered for this appointment, ASER (teaching and research) or ASE (teaching only).

Duties of the role

You will contribute to teaching, assessment and student support across our undergraduate and postgraduate Speech and Language Therapy provision, including programme and module development and leadership. You will also support the preparation of students for clinical placements.

You will bring contemporary professional knowledge and experience to your teaching and contribute to our evidence-informed and research-led approach to Speech and Language Therapy education. There will also be opportunities to engage in scholarship and professional practice activity, contribute to curriculum development, and work collaboratively with colleagues across the School.

Qualifications and skills required

Applicants should be registered with the HCPC as a Speech and Language Therapist, or hold equivalent international registration with the ability to gain HCPC registration. In addition, you will possess a relevant doctoral level research degree (or be close to completion of your PhD studies) or equivalent professional experience or practice.

We are particularly interested in applicants with experience of working with paediatric Speech and Language Therapy caseloads who can contribute to our paediatric teaching provision. Experience in dysphagia and Eating, Drinking and Swallowing would also be welcomed.

We welcome applications both from experienced educators and from Speech and Language Therapists with relevant professional experience who can demonstrate the potential to engage effectively in university teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will also need to fulfil the requirements of an enhanced DBS check.
