Applications are invited from colleagues for the role of Faculty Progress and Assessment Officer of Science and Health. Join the Faculty team to help support the delivery of education across our various departments of the faculty.
As Chair of Board of Examiners meetings, the Faculty Progress and Assessment Officer will consider claims for extenuating circumstances and recommendations from departmental pre-boards of examiners, ensuring that claims are treated fairly and consistently across the University in accordance with the Equality Act legislation.
The Faculty Progress and Assessment Officer will also contribute to the ongoing review of the Rules of Assessment and the University’s Assessment Policies. The post holder will be involved in the consideration of student casework, including student appeals resulting from the decisions of Examination Boards.
The Faculty Progress and Assessment Officer will contribute to relevant projects relating to the review of assessment policies and processes, and policies and processes related to student casework. You will be responsible for ensuring that the Board of Examiners’ meetings operate in accordance with university regulations and procedures and that the Rules of Assessment and rules relating to reassessment are applied consistently and correctly.
In accordance with the Ordinances, the role is open to Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, Readers and Professors, who are current members of staff at the University of Essex. We are not able to consider applications from external applicants. Appointment, which is subject to approval by Senate and Council, will be for an initial period of 1 year.
