Applications are invited from colleagues for the role of Faculty Director of Partnerships in the Faculty of Science and Health. The Faculty Director of Partnerships is a senior academic office‑holder within the Faculty and makes a major contribution to Faculty and University leadership in academic partnerships and transnational education (TNE). The role supports the Executive Dean, Dean of Partnerships (Education), Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor (Education) and relevant Faculty Deans in delivering institutional priorities for education, internationalisation, academic quality and sustainable partnership growth.
Specifically, the Faculty Director of Partnerships provides senior strategic leadership for the Faculty's academic partnership and TNE portfolio, working with departments and professional services to support development, approval, delivery, monitoring and enhancement of partner provision. The role ensures that partnership activity is aligned with Faculty strengths, protects academic standards and student outcomes, and is informed by evidence, risk, regulatory requirements and financial sustainability.
The Faculty Director of Partnerships may deputise for the Executive Dean on matters relating to partnerships and TNE. In accordance with Ordinance 8, the role is open to Senior Lecturers, Readers and Professors, who are current members of staff at the University of Essex. We are not able to consider applications from external applicants.
Appointment, which is subject to approval by Senate and Council, will be for an initial period of 12 months at 0.8 FTE, with the remainder of the role‑holder’s time allocated to research or scholarship in their academic department. The scope, workload, impact and continuation of the role will be reviewed during the appointment period. The role holder receives an annual leadership allowance of £6,500 in addition to their salary.
