The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced technician to join our Garment Technology Team. Working with students in the Undergraduate Fashion Programme you will technically instruct them in garment manufacture and support them with their creative endeavours for assessment and Graduate Showcase Fashion Show.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week), campus based. Starting in September 2026, it is fixed term for 12 months.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Either HNC/HND or equivalent level vocational qualifications in Garment Making plus a significant relevant experience of working in a Garment Making workroom or substantial experience of relevant work, demonstrating development through involvement in progressively more demanding work/roles
  • Experience in delivering instructional training in garment making processes and techniques to students of a wide range of abilities via a range of methods (in-person, digital etc.)
  • A wide knowledge of garment technology and production including, sewing/finishing techniques, tailoring, couture and a high level of competence to operate and maintain relevant machinery.
  • Experience of interpreting garment designs and understanding concepts and requirements.
  • Ability to be innovative and creative, in order to demonstrate and suggest differing methods of construction
