The University of Edinburgh is a world-class organisation. We are a large University covering a wide range of activities. In Professional Services, we support the University’s research and teaching, offering many career and role specialisms.

The University’s Learning and Teaching Strategy is focussed on three core ambitions: a future-ready curriculum, engaged and empowered learners, and inspiring excellent teaching. The overall aim is to ensure the curriculum remains fit for future needs, students’ learning experiences and skills are enhanced, and Edinburgh students remain highly employable. A key enabler in the implementation of this strategy is the embedding, surfacing and articulation of the Skills for Success Framework (SFSF) within the curriculum.

The SFSF has been formally incorporated into the University’s Assessment and Feedback policy and Course Approval Management policy. As a result, all Schools across the University will be required to demonstrate how the SFSF has been embedded into their programmes. The SFSF team have developed mapping guidance and tools to assess the current level of skills engagement across programmes and courses. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to work closely with the Skills for Success Senior Design Lead and Schools to produce programme maps that reflect current skills provision, which will enable the Schools to identify gaps and plan to ensure that the SFSF is embedded within all programmes.

People have always been at the heart of our work. Our people are at the centre of the University community and everything we do. We value colleagues with drive, determination and a passion for what they do.

We are a place where everyone is welcome and offer a range of policies and benefits designed to support you in building the right meaningful flexibility that works for you.

A career with us has a range of other benefits that can be tailored to your lifestyle:

  • Opportunities to develop new skills and broaden your experience
  • Working with one of the world’s leading universities
  • Contributing to the work and purpose of the University

We are looking for 2 interns. The posts are part time (9 hours per week). We are open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

This role is part of the Employ.ed for PhDs Programme. The programme offers work experience designed to enhance your professional skills. It will also help widen your professional network and provide an insight into a different workplace, discipline, or industry. As an Employ.ed for PhDs intern, you will also receive tailored developmental support from the Careers Service to help you make the most of your internship.
