College of Science and Engineering / School of Informatics

Part-time: 25 hours per week

Fixed-term: until 31st July 2027

The School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh is seeking applications to join its Operations Team, based at the Informatics Forum on the central campus for a fixed term contract until 31st July 2027. The postholder will provide comprehensive reception services and support to all staff, students, and visitors, serving as the primary point of contact for enquiries and visitor coordination. The role supports the smooth running of facilities, security, and event coordination across the School, while also providing essential administrative backup during peak periods to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to one of the UK’s foremost centres for informatics research and teaching. Informatics at Edinburgh is widely recognised for its vibrant interdisciplinary culture and its significant contributions to technology and society.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Either Vocational Qualifications (N/SVQ 3, ONC or equivalent) with experience in a similar role; or school education to standard grade (or equivalent) with demonstrable relevant professional experience.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and experience of using email and the internet.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks within a routine.
  • Understanding and ability to apply relevant standard procedures, including those governing health and safety.
  • Previous experience in a relevant customer service role and an understanding of the key behaviours required to deliver high-quality customer service.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant Health and Safety requirements.

The salary for this post is £26,093 to £28,788 per annum pro-rata. This post is part-time (25 hours per week) and is based 100% on campus.
