The Opportunity:

As a student assistant, you’ll be working as part of the friendly EdHelp team dealing with student enquiries about the Library, IT, student finance and administration using our call management system.

What the job involves:

  • Working in the University Main Library in the EdHelp team which provides frontline support to students, staff and visitors of the University across a range of services including Library and IT
  • Categorisation of calls received via the enquiry management system; creating and assigning or escalating calls to an appropriate specialist advisor or team when necessary
  • Issuing and replacing University cards.
  • Supporting key activities to keep EdHelp services running, for example checking all computers and printers, photocopiers and self-check machines are working and replacing consumables

This post is part time (Guaranteed hours of 8 hours per week)

A bit about you:

  • Customer focused with proven customer service skills
  • Current UG/PG student (or starting in Sept 2026) at the University of Edinburgh
  • Ability to quickly learn new IT applications and business systems in order to support users and resolve common issues
  • Well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to problem solve and be accurate and methodical
  • A proven ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable with excellent time-management skills
