The Student Conduct Team is responsible for maintaining academic integrity, upholding the Student Code of Conduct and promoting a safe and respectful environment in which our University community can thrive.
We provide support to students, staff and members of the public who may have witnessed or experienced anti-social or inappropriate behaviour involving a student. We take a compassionate and fair approach, promoting positive behaviour while ensuring appropriate accountability where students breach the standards and values of the University.
The role holder will support the Senior Student Disciplinary Officer and Student Conduct Manager in maintaining and regulating student conduct, within the university and the wider community. The role holder will provide a professional response for staff, student or public reports of student misconduct and will support staff to follow due process as per UEL policies and procedures. The role holder will have experience supporting disciplinary processes and will have experience maintaining accurate records and data. Due to the nature of the work, the role holder will be required to support disciplinary processes for a range of allegations, including of a sensitive nature.
The role holder will be pro-active in working with colleagues across the university to ensure that policies, procedures and service in relation to student conduct and reporting are clear, up to date and effective.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience of supporting and dealing with sensitive and sometimes complex matters in a fair, professional and compassionate way. You will be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and deadlines, and confident in maintaining accurate and confidential case records.
You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear guidance to students and staff and to apply policies and procedures consistently and fairly. You will be comfortable working with colleagues across the University, using sound judgement when considering individual cases and knowing when matters need to be referred or escalated.
You will also be proactive, approachable and committed to delivering a high-quality service, with an interest in student conduct, sector developments and improving processes and practice. You will understand the importance of confidentiality, data protection, equality and inclusion when working with a diverse student community.
