About the Job We are seeking to appoint a Subject Area Lead for Biological and Biomedical Sciences to build a high- performance academic team, with delegated responsibility to line manage colleagues, with accountability for performance of courses within subject. The subject area currently includes the responsibility over undergraduate and post-graduate programs in Biomedical Sciences (IBMS accredited), and undergraduate programs in Biotechnology/Biochemistry, Medical Physiology, with plans to diversify our academic portfolio. The successful candidate will be appointed as a Senior Lecturer on a permanent contract. The Subject Area Lead (SAL) responsibility is offered on a non-substantive basis for a term of three years, with the potential for renewal for another term. If the SAL appointment is not renewed at the end of the term, the postholder will return to their substantive permanent role as Senior Lecturer. You will be part of the senior management team of the school and the role is both challenging and rewarding, with a broad range of responsibilities and expectation of the highest levels of transformational change. To build and manage an effective and efficient staff resource base. To deliver transformational improvements in subject area and maintain PSRB standards and requirements, and meeting outcomes including student continuation, progression, attainment, experience and graduate employment; To increase performance of courses in their respective areas in TEF and to promote the impact and visibility of knowledge exchange, academic advancements, industry partnerships and entrepreneurial achievements of the area to non-academic audiences To champion and deliver growth and diversification initiatives.
